East Midlands – Joanne

Joanne became Regional Coordinator for the East Midlands in spring 2009. She lives near Wellingborough, in the North & East Northamptonshire branch area, at the southern tip of the region. She has two girls, Holly, aged 5, and Daisy aged 3, so has a very pink, High School Musical themed, house!

 

Joanne joined the NCT early in 2004 when pregnant with Holly, and took part in antenatal classes, and is proud to say, like so many NCT class attendees, she is still in contact with some of her classmates 5 years on.

However, Joanne only got involved with other NCT activities locally once Daisy was born, responding to a personal email from an existing committee member to help out, and took on the role of Branch Secretary. The Chair moved on, and after a few Chairless months, Joanne moved into the Chair role, to help the committee move forwards, having taken on some aspects of the role within the Secretary remit.

Joanne is no longer Chair of the North & East Northamptonshire branch but is still involved and attends committee meetings as often as she can.

She has met many great friends through the NCT who have supported her through some challenging times, and wishes every new parent could benefit from the type of support the NCT can offer.

Joanne joined the region team, appreciating the importance of region, having been a well supported Chair in the old Region 5. Her aim is to try to help branches in the region in supporting new parents, and although she has only been in the role a short time, she is enjoying the challenges and looks forward to more to come.
